Mark Tresnowski

Mark is co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Orchard Investment Partners, a private equity firm focused on continuation vehicles. For over fifteen years, Mark was at the private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners LLC as MDP’s General Counsel and then as a Senior Advisor. At MDP, Mark served on the investment committee and was responsible for all legal and compliance matters as well as media relations and government affairs. Prior to joining Madison Dearborn, Mark was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis, LLP and served as General Counsel of an MDP portfolio company.
Mark is a recognized leader in private equity industry having served as Chairman of the industry trade association, the American Investment Council, as a member of the Private Equity Leadership Network and as co-founder of the Private Equity General Counsel Network. Mark was also selected to serve as the private equity industry representative on the initial Securities and Exchange Commission Investor Advisory Committee formed pursuant to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
Mark is the author of numerous articles on legal issues relating to mergers and acquisitions and private equity as well as co-author of a book on high yield offerings. He has repeatedly been selected for inclusion in Illinois Super Lawyers.
Mark also serves as President of the Board of Directors of The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Brightpoint (formerly Children’s Home & Aid) in Chicago; and member of the Council of the University of Chicago Graham School. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Nuveen Investments and US Power Generating Company and as a member of the Board of Directors of Court Theatre at the University of Chicago.
Mark earned his BS in psychology at the University of Illinois and his JD at the University of Virginia where he was an editor of the Virginia Law Review. Mark is also a graduate of the University of Chicago Graham School where he earned at Masters of Liberal Arts.
